The Drive TT, a cutting-edge carbon wheel built to push the limits of time trial and triathlon performance. Whether you’re chasing podium finishes or personal bests, the Drive TT delivers elite-level aerodynamics, ultra-lightweight design, and rapid power transfer to elevate your ride.

Drive TT vs Velo TT

Paired with the trusted Velo TT, both models embody two unique approaches to speed. From race-day specialists to all-around warriors, Elitewheels now offers tailored solutions for every type of competitor. Let’s explore what sets them apart.

Rim Width: Narrow vs. Wide – Aero vs. Stability

Drive TT VS Velo TT 2

Compared to the Velo TT’s 18.2mm inner width and 25mm outer width, the Drive TT has significantly increased its rim width, upgraded to 22mm inner width and 28mm outer width.

By increasing the inner and outer rim width, the Drive TT is compatible with 700×25-30c tires, optimizing aerodynamics, grip, and comfort simultaneously. The 22mm inner width gives wider tires a better shape, improving grip and supports lower tire pressure for enhanced comfort. The 28mm outer width creates a smoother transition with wide tires, further refining aerodynamic performance.

Aerodynamics: Wind Tunnel Proven at Silverstone

The Drive TT has been wind tunnel-tested at the Silverstone Sports Engineering Hub in the UK. Under optimal conditions, it required as little as 76 watts to maintain 45 km/h at -20°yaw angle— proving its place at the top of the aero game.

Velo TT: 1250g+/-50g

PMI (polymethacrylimide) is a lightweight,yet high-density aerospace-grade foam core material. It offers all of the benefits of honeycomb type cores but with enhanced strength and impact resistance.

Unlike the Velo TT which employs solid PMI core, the Drive TT adapts advanced layering technology and structural shape optimization. By strategically applying just a single layer of PMI to coat the internal surfaces, it achieves substantial weight reduction while maintaining high rigidity.

When every gram counts, the Drive TT take the lead. Constructed with ultra-light carbon layups, it’s an ideal choice for riders who prioritize lightweight speed and race-day readiness.

Hub Systems: Instant Engagement, Maximum Power

Drive TT: 50T ratchet

Velo TT: 36T ratchet

Both hubs offer reliable power transfer, but the Drive TT’s rapid 50T engagement  with a 7.2° engagement angle is designed for high-torque bursts and quick accelerations — perfect for technical courses or high-speed transitions.

Unlike traditional flat ratchets, the specially angled tooth surfaces enable automatic self-alignment, which increases the engagement area. This design not only enhances stability and reliability but also reduces stress on the tooth surfaces, minimizing wear and extending the hub’s overall lifespan.

Compared to the Enduro Steel bearings used in the first-generation Velo TT, the Drive TT features ceramic bearings. Ceramic bearings with lower rolling resistance typically enhance transmission efficiency—you’ll feel the difference with every pedal stroke.
