Bean Day Gravel 2023

Join us for the 1st Annual Ride in conjunction with the historic 113-year-old Bean Day event, a celebration of community, heritage, and outdoor adventure! From Friday to the morning of Labor Day, we have a lineup of exciting activities that you won’t want to miss. As part of the festivities, we’ll be serving a generous community free food spread in the afternoon, bringing everyone together for a delightful culinary experience.

For those early risers, the 40-mile ride kicks off at 8 am. If you maintain an average speed of 10 MPH, you’ll have the chance to be back in time to savor the delicious meal prepared for everyone.

The Shortest Wagon Route takes you on an unforgettable journey eastwards before heading north into the rolling plains, passing through a Jurassic park-sized electric fenced area that was once a Zebra ranch. As you journey back west, you’ll encounter working ranch houses and a thrilling ascent that rewards you with panoramic views, including wagon ruts leading back to the historic Wagon Mound.

Meanwhile, the Mound Route begins with a tarmac stretch, leading you past Charette Lake and around Apache Mesa. The route then takes you along the Santa Fe trail through the expansive open range, where you might catch glimpses of antelope, elk, and breathtaking far-off vistas. This scenic loop culminates with an exhilarating 1000-foot, 15-mile Tarmac downhill ride, ultimately returning you to Wagon Mound.

When choosing your route, consider your pace and the time it takes to complete it. Aim to be back by 12-1 pm so that you can partake in the sumptuous free meal. After 1 pm, regrettably, no food will be served, so plan accordingly.
