Ride around Torch 2024
Jul 21, 2024 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Ride Around Torch 2024 is an annual cycling event offering four scenic routes of 26, 40, 63, or 100 miles around Torch Lake, Michigan’s longest and most picturesque inland lake. Known for its clear, turquoise waters.
Starting and ending in Elk Rapids, riders will pass through charming villages and hamlets along the lake’s shores, including Alden, Eastport, Clam River, and Torch River. The ride is designed as a leisurely tour rather than a race or test of strength, although the 100-mile route, with its very hilly terrain, can be a challenging endeavor.
The 26-mile route is an out-and-back journey around the north end of Elk Lake, passing through Torch River to the food stop at Crystal Beach Park. It offers the same picturesque landscapes and some challenging hills but is shorter in distance.
For those looking for a longer ride, the 40-mile route extends from Crystal Beach Park, heading east and north through Alden and Clam River before looping back to the food stop. Riders will then rejoin the 26-mile route for the post-ride picnic in Elk Rapids.
The signature 63-mile ride circles Torch Lake, passing through Eastport, Clam River, Alden, and Torch River. This route offers a mix of hills, flats, and scenic views, with multiple food stops along the way. A shortcut is available to reduce the ride to just over 50 miles for those seeking a slightly shorter option.
Finally, the 100-mile route is a challenging century ride, featuring the rolling shoreline of Torch Lake and numerous extreme hills. This route is not recommended for racing clusters, as it is designed to be a challenging and rewarding experience for riders.
