Choose Your Challenge: Full Hug, Half Hug, or Handshake

Participants can opt for the challenging 100-mile Full Hug, the 100km (62 miles) Half Hug, or embrace the 34-mile Handshake option. Whether you’re a seasoned racer or a newcomer, SHASTA GRAVEL HUGGER caters to all, promising an adventure of a lifetime.

Scenic Routes with a Dash of Challenge

Each route boasts awe-inspiring views of Mt. Shasta and consists of approximately 50% gravel and 50% pavement. The speedy pavement sectors link ten challenging gravel sections, including the notorious “Jeep Road.” This gravel classic mirrors the spring classics of Europe, replacing cobblestones with the rugged beauty of Northern California’s gravel roads. With rolling open roads and two significant climbs totaling 4,700 feet of ascent, riders can choose to race for victory or achieve a personal milestone by conquering their first century.

Race Details and Sanctioning

SHASTA GRAVEL HUGGER is sanctioned by the Oregon Bicycle Racing Association (OBRA). Racers planning to participate in multiple OBRA events can opt for an annual membership at $50. For those joining only this race, a single-day gravel license is available for $5.00.

Registration Fees

The registration fee for all races is $105, with a special rate of $60 for participants aged 17 and under.

Race Day Etiquette

While the course will be marked, riders are encouraged to upload the route to their GPS devices or smartphones for a seamless experience. The event will take place on open roads, emphasizing the importance of respect for all road users and a strict no-littering policy.

Friday: Race number pickup from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm
Saturday: Race number pickup resumes at 9:00 am until race start
