Get ready for the triumphant return of The Appalachian Mountaineer in 2023! This year promises to be the best Mountaineer yet, with a few exciting updates in store. While we may make some tweaks to the classic courses, you can rest assured that all the elements you’ve come to love about The Mountaineer will remain. Expect top-notch aid stations, breathtaking vistas, and exhilarating rides that will challenge both you and your bike.

Exploring the Gravelachia Wonders
Prepare to be enchanted by narrow forest roads, old rail beds, and, of course, the iconic ridgeline views from Bald Knob. The Appalachian Mountaineer is back to showcase some of the most remarkable aspects of #Gravelachia.

Multiple Distance Options (pending)
This year, racers will have the option to choose from a range of distances (details pending). Upon your return to Wilderness Adventure, you’ll be treated to warm campfire hospitality, a delectable post-ride meal, and a refreshing “cold one” of your choice—all included with your entry.

On-Course Support
Stay energized and keep those wheels rolling with the help of three on-course aid stations hosted by Cardinal Bicycle, Star City Cycling, and our dedicated Journey Productions team.

Hosted at Wilderness Adventure
Our gracious hosts for the weekend are the wonderful folks at Wilderness Adventure at Eagle Landing. Here, you’ll find 500 acres of fields, forests, streams, and mountains waiting to be explored. Bring the whole family and take advantage of hiking trails, canoe rentals, fishing in our two ponds, thrilling zip line rides, or simply unwind with a warm cup of tea by the tranquil Craigs Creek.
