USA Cycling Pro Road Championships 2022

The USA Cycling Pro Road National Championships returns to the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in eastern Tennessee for a fifth time in six years, June 23-26, 2022, with the 2020 edition cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The formula for a trio of events remains the same as previous editions, with nine stars-and-stripes jerseys awarded over four days, three for elite men, three for elite women and also three for U23 women based on placings in the elite events.
Racing begins on Thursday, June 23, with the individual time trials on a relatively flat 11.6km (7.2-mile) route along the shores of Melton Lake in Oak Ridge. The women will complete two laps for a total distance of 23.2 kilometres. The men will complete three laps for a total of 34.9 kilometres.
The USA Cycling Pro Road Race Championship has a long history that goes back to 1985 when Eric Heiden, who won five gold medals in speedskating for the US at the 1980 Lake Placid Olympic Winter Games, captured the first road title. The event was held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with the major climb and spectator area along a steep neighborhood section called the Manayunk Wall.
