There are 3 types of rim/tire interface for carbon rim
1. Non-tubeless With Hooks
The most traditional and old style Non-tubeless with hook like below, which is usually see on the old aluminum rim.
2. Tubeless Hooked Rims
Tubeless hooked rims as the name might suggest, which support tubeless-ready and standard tube-type clincher tyres. Hooked beads are the traditional clincher style, with a small inward facing protrusion around the out perimeter of the rim. Most of the wheels you’ve ever owned are hooked.
Hooked Rims Pros:
Wide range of tyres gives users more choice
Normal tyre pressure range available
Able to run tubeless or with tubes
Hooked Rims Cons:
Heavier
More complex to manufacture

3.Tubeless Hookless Rim
A hookless rim is simply one with a profile that lacks bead hooks, the protruding edges that help retain conventional clincher tyres under pressure.
Instead, a hookless rim has straight, vertical sides, and indeed in wheel maker circles the technology is often referred to as TSS(tubeless straight side)
Hookless rims are usually tubeless-only, i.e. you must run a tubeless-specific tyre, which will have a stiffer bead than a conventional tubed clincher.
Hookless rims have been around for mountain bikes for years, but in the road world, where tyre pressures are typically much higher, they’re relatively new.
Hookless rims are usually tubeless-only, i.e. you must run a tubeless-specific tyre, which will have a stiffer bead than a conventional tubed clincher.
Hookless Rim Pros:
Cleaner tyre/rim interface for better aero
Lighter rims
Stronger rims
Lower manufacturing costs can be passed to the customer
Reduced material waster is more eco-friendly
Hookless Rim Cons:
Requires tubeless-specific tyres, not just ‘tubeless-ready
Range of tubeless-specific tyres is limited
Limit of 70psi
