DRIVE RIMS
Innovative rim are created on the foundation of our unique UNI technology (*Read more about UNI technology), which is lighter but with better performance. The U/V-shaped rim of DRIVE 40D not only has the aerodynamic performance of the U-shaped rim, but also retains the performance of the V-shaped rim to help reduce wind resistance. The 28mm outer width give the tire a firm and stable stance, helping to reduce rolling resistance and improve stability. DRIVE 40D allows you to run 25C – 38C tires with low psi. The 21mm inner rim-width helps the tire absorb the road vibrations and reduce your fatigue.
CARBON SPOKES
The significant feature of DRIVE 40D wheels is the high-modulus carbon spoke with 3.3mm width. With up to a 7% higher in lateral response over equivalent steel spoke wheelsets. The DRIVE 40D wheelset offers purely mechanically secured carbon spokes, which allow carbon spokes to be trued and maintained just like regular steel spokes. Anti-loosening technology is also used on the spoke nipple. When the spokes are locked in, the threads built into the nipples achieve a double-locking effect, which is also essential for carbon spokes.
PERFORMANCE HUB
To get the most out of carbon fiber spokes, we designed high flange hubs which come with higher lateral stiffness and more real estate. It delivers all the handing and stiffness benefits. The front hub uses 6803 ceramic bearings and the rear hub uses three 6803 bearings and one 6903 bearing. The larger the bearing, the better the rigidity. On the premise of ensuring the performance output of the hub, we have reduced the weight of the hub body in the design.
CERAMIC BEARINGS
At the same speed, you can clearly feel that the low-drag ceramic bearings make your ride easier. Both the front and rear wheels of the DRIVE 40D feature ceramic bearings with an extremely low coefficient of friction. Ceramic bearings further improve the rolling efficiency of the rim, resulting in lower rolling resistance of the wheel. Read more about ceramic bearings.
