The Drive SL adopts an front/rear rim architecture: the 36mm external width of the front wheel prioritizes crosswind stability and precise handling, while the 34mm external width of the rear wheel reduces drag and enhances aerodynamic efficiency within the turbulent airflow behind the rider.

A wider internal width enables greater air volume. The 25mm internal width supports lower tire pressures, delivering enhanced vibration damping and long-distance comfort—every kilometer, more composed. Through continuous optimization of the rim layup, the Drive SL 48D CS achieves an ideal balance of low weight and aerodynamic performance within this high-volume platform, with total weight reaching just 1290g.

Titanium naturally offers excellent corrosion resistance and impact resistance. Elitewheels has gone a step further—mastering the thermal management challenges of titanium processing to machine the ratchet teeth and freehub body as a single piece (60T ratchet, 6°engagement angle).

This design reduces the weight of the ratchet system, delivering direct and decisive power transfer—a manufacturing standard rarely seen in the industry. Paired with super-light carbon spokes weighing just 2.2g in a 3.2mm flat profile, along with titanium alloy components that resist acids and alkalis, the Drive SL CS significantly improves service life while reducing weight.

The Drive SL 48D CS precisely controls the tension difference between both sides of the hub within ≤7kgf, far superior to the ≥15kgf commonly seen in most 2:1 spoke pattern products on the market. Spoke tension is more evenly distributed, resulting in less deformation and greater stability under dynamic loads—this is not just impressive data, but a guarantee of long-term reliability.

Compared to its predecessor, the Drive SL 48D CS features increased lateral stiffness. Sprinting out of the saddle? Less power loss, Less brake rub, less wasted watts.

Testing & Validation
Beyond the Lab, Validated at Silverstone

Each Drive SL wheelset undergoes over 20 laboratory tests at our facility—covering durability, longevity, and stiffness— and passes the UCI Vertical Impact Test, certifying it for top-tier professional racing.

Beyond laboratory testing, we validated the Drive SL series at the Silverstone Engineering Hub in the UK. The results confirm that the Drive SL 58D CS — purpose-built for high-speed performance and demanding crosswind conditions — delivers exceptional aerodynamic stability.

Riding resistance is optimized at small yaw angles (0–15°), accompanied by excellent crosswind stability. Under severe crosswinds at yaw angles ≥15°, handling and composure reach an even higher level.

For everyday riding conditions (0–15° yaw angle), its superior crosswind performance helps riders unlock a 1–6W power advantage. This translates not only to higher riding efficiency but also to enhanced safety at high speeds (≥28km/h).

Which brands’ freehubs are compatible with Drive SL wheelsets?+

Since the hubs used in Drive wheels are manufactured in Elitewheels’ factory, freehubs from other brands are incompatible. The hubs used in Drive SL wheels have passed our 20,000km test. As long as you ride in normal conditions, the possibility of the freehub getting damaged is very low. If you ride in extreme conditions, we recommend you clean the freehub every 3000km.

Why does the Drive SL use TPI steel bearings?+

Designed as an all-round competition wheelset, the Drive SL is built to perform across a wide range of terrain—from steep climbs and high-speed descents to gusty crosswinds and rugged cobblestone sectors. Steel bearings are inherently more tolerant of contamination, ensuring consistent, predictable performance regardless of weather or road conditions. Beyond durability, steel bearings deliver tangible practical benefits: they run smoothly with standard lithium-based grease, offer greater installation tolerance, and require less frequent servicing.

When should I choose the Shimano MSR 12S freehub option?+

The MSR freehub option on the Drive SL wheels is compatible with Shimano Micro Spline Road 12S cassettes. For example, if you are using the new Shimano RX820 1×12 groupset with the CS-M8100-12 cassette, please choose the Shimano MSR 12S freehub option.

Which cassettes require the 1.85mm spacer?+

1.85mm spacers are required for Shimano 9/10-speed cassettes fitted on Shimano HG freehubs. Spacers are also required when pairing most SRAM XD MTB cassettes with SRAM XDR freehubs.

Can I use disc brake wheels on my QR (quick release) compatible frame?+

No. The Drive SL wheels are only compatible with standard thru-axle frames with hub spacing of Front 12×100 mm and Rear 12×142 mm.

Why don't our disc brake wheelsets come with thru-axles?+

Unlike quick releases, there are many thru-axle standards. What you need depends on your frame's make and model. There are many thread types, such as M12x1.0mm, M12x1.5mm, M12x1.75mm, etc... For example, M12 means the outer thread diameter is 12mm, and 1.0mm means the thread pitch is 1.0mm. Because of the variety of standards, we do not provide thru-axles. If you need a new thru-axle(s), please contact your frame brand for more information.

Is there an internal nipple option?+

No. Currently, the Drive SL does not have an internal nipple option.

Can I change to 6-bolt?+

Yes. Drive SL wheels use center lock hubs by default, but if you want to use 6-bolt, please click the link and add the Centerlock to 6-bolt adapters to your cart with the wheelset.

What does the rider weight limit include?+

The rider weight limit includes the total weight of the rider, bike, gear, and any other accessories. Please do not exceed this weight.

What tire pressures should I run?+

The best tire pressure for you depends on many factors: the rim width, type of bike and tires, rider weight, road conditions and weather conditions. Please see our user guide for more information.

How strong are your carbon rims? What happens if I break one?+

What happens if a carbon spoke breaks?+

Our threaded carbon spokes have been designed to last. In the event that a carbon spoke breaks, replacement is easy. Each wheel comes with replacement spokes that can be replaced like traditional steel spokes. For more information, please see this article. Are carbon spokes covered under warranty?+

Our standard 3-year warranty covers carbon spokes if they are damaged by non-external factors. This means they are only covered if there is a manufacturing defect. Click here for more information on our warranty.
