six s spoke wheel

WHEEL:

The Drive Six Gravel wheelset has stunning looks and great aerodynamic styling. The one-piece design with 6 carbon spokes increases stiffness and power transfer. Carbon spokes transmit power more directly than steel spokes resulting in a more efficient wheel that can corner and accelerate like no other. Silver decals with the unique marbling appearance sets the Drive Six Gravel wheels apart from the rest of the pack. The wheels are light and have the benefit of never needing truing!

Six s spoke Rim type

RIM TYPE

With its hookless full carbon and tubeless ready rim, Drive Six Gravel is compatible with 700*30C–700*50C tires.

*In accordance with the recommendations and standards implemented by the ETRTO,  tires fit on hookless rims should not have a pressure exceeding 73 PSI(5 bar). The Drive Six is not compatible with tires requiring a minimum pressure higher than this value. Overinflation could cause a blowout and cause potential injury.

HUBS

The hubs of the Drive Six Gravel are made of forged and machined 7075 aluminum, making them stronger. Fanuc CNC machines are used to precisely machine the hubs to increase the life of the bearings and reduce rolling resistance. The freehub uses a star ratchet mechanism that comes standard with 36 teeth. This allows for hassle-free freehub servicing.

I prefer this wheel set like a road with 32mm Conti GP5000. Some people told me that i am crazy, that this type wheelset is too tough on termac. Lie, this wheelset is amazing. Fast rolling and light weight. When i go to 30km/h + wheelset nicely hold speed. And looks awesome. I blow at 70psi. I will try gravel tire 40mm.

Nice wheels, have them for 6months on allroad bike. I am planning to install this on my MTB with a boost front fork, do you have endcaps to convert the front axle from 12×100 to 15x110mm ?

Hello. We are glad you are satisfied with them. Unfortunately, we are not able to make endcaps to convert Drive Six Gravel to boost.

I’ve been riding the DRIVE 6 wheelset now for about 3 months. I use them on my “all road” bike (a 2023 Trek Domane Gen 4) for both gravel and road riding with Rene Herse Barlow Pass 38mm slick tires on them. I’m about 155 lbs and run them at 40 psi for road and about 35 psi for gravel. At first I thought they were a much stiffer wheel on the gravel but I settled into them and realized that once my tire pressure was adjusted optimally for gravel (a bit softer than road) then the have about the same feel as any other wheel. They’re not too stiff as others have suggested. They’re a fantastic wheel set that motors on the flats but also climbs as well as anything I’ve ridden before due to its relatively low weight. Great price and they turn heads too! Love the unique look. They’re speedy wheels!

    Hello,
I am about two months now the owner of this wheelset, which I bought for my gravel bike mostly because of the looks. I have to say the exceeded my expectations in that matter. The wheels look absolutely stunning and everywhere I go, I get turn heads on the new look of my bike. However, I guess that fashionable style comes with a price, and I am not talking about the already high price in the tag of this set. I mean, you pay a high price in the confort of your ride off-road, because this wheels are extremely stiff and rigid for this discipline. They are definitely suitable only for suspension bikes. I now make the joke of comparing them with super fine expensive woman’s high heels, those used for the one million dollar look in the red carpet. The day after, every single magazine will be talking about how awesome you looked, while you are home trying to recover from having to walk the red carpet in those insufferable amazing shoes. That is exactly how your whole body aches after riding a gravel bike with this wheelset. All this does not compromise whatsoever the fantastic quality of this product, that really could go for as much as three times its price due to flawless construction and performance on the tarmac, but this is just my comment on how they really feel, which for sure will make them not for everyone riding in the gravel world.
    Cheers!

      Hi Felipe,

Thank you for your comment. I am glad that you like them in general.

In general, lateral(side to side) stiffness can be felt by many experienced riders. Regardless of the kind of riding one does, lateral stiffness can offer some benefit and does not directly affect comfort. It does, however, improve acceleration and handling. The Drive Six wheelset is exceptionally stiff in this regard.

From your comment, it is clear however that you are talking about radial(vertical) stiffness. The Drive Six is marginally stiffer in this aspect, but the difference is not as pronounced as one may assume. The designer of the Lotus 108 bike, Mike Burrows in this video(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpmudzgDdQo) talks about his wheel deflectiion tests: “With 16mm of tire deflection, I got 0.4mm of rim deflection, and that was the same for every wheel I tested… There is essentially no vertical compliance in a bicycle wheel that your backside would ever notice.” Our rims may be slightly stiffer, but the difference should be imperceivable. Instead, I recommend you adjust the tire pressure.

Mike later stated that people riding full disc wheels may think it is less comfortable due to the louder noises that spokeless wheels make, as we associate louder noises when riding with less smooth terrain or a less compliant wheel.

Trace Velo made a video about his experience riding the Drive Six(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUCs1ehW7rM). His and our recommendation is to alter the tire pressure, as that is where differences will really be felt.
