Marvel 38V Rim Brake

The Marvel 38V wheelset is designed for those who want an all-rounder that performs best in the hills and mountains. While they are our entry-level wheels, don’t let that fool you. They are tried and tested and come with Pillar spokes and high-precision, ceramic bearing hubs. The wheelset has been aerodynamically optimized for 23-30C tires and comes in at only 1573 grams for the pair.

*To ensure that the wheels are compatible with your bike and to prevent any rubbing, the brake pads should be at least 2mm away from the rim’s braking surface on both sides. We recommend checking with your frame and brake caliper manufacturers for the maximum tire clearance before placing your order.

RIM

At Elitewheels, we design our Marvel wheels to match the needs of recreational cyclists. As opposed to alloy rims found on most road bikes, Marvel wheels are stronger, stiffer, much more more aerodynamic and significantly lighter. In fact, wheels play the biggest role in aerodynamics on a bicycle. As opposed to reducing weight elsewhere, a lighter rim saves rotational weight, making for a more agile feel and faster accelerations.

SPOKES

Choosing the right spoke to build a wheel is essential. We specifically selected Pillar PA 1423 aero bladed spokes. They are cold forged making them strong, allowing them to be able to withstand over 300kgf of tension.

PERFORMANCE HUB

To get the most out of this carbon wheelset, we specifically designed the hub with high flanges to further increase lateral stiffness and improve handling. Elitewheels manufactures its own high precision hubs with Fanuc CNC machines, which can machine to tolerances of just 0.02mm. This not only allows for lower rolling resistance but also increases bearing longevity.

CERAMIC BEARINGS

The Marvel 38V’s front hub uses two 6803 mixed ceramic bearings. The rear hub uses one 6903 and three 6803 mixed ceramic bearings. These large bearings offer better durability over standard size ones. The use of large mixed ceramic bearings will allow you to have a more efficient bike, saving you precious watts.

BRAKE SURFACE

The Marvel 38V uses a blend of 270 ℃, high-temperature resin, developed by Elitewheels, and Japanese Toray T800 carbon fiber for the brake surface. This heat resistance ensures excellent braking performance even on long, steep descents.

Marvel 38V features an advanced 3K 45° twill weave carbon fiber brake surface, engineered for superior braking performance and durability. Unlike traditional unidirectional (UD) layups, the cross-oriented fiber structure delivers balanced resistance to both lateral and longitudinal forces, ensuring consistent power and control in harsh conditions.

The 45° angled weave promotes efficient heat dissipation, effectively limiting localized overheating and maintaining stable braking efficiency at high temperatures. Additionally, the interlaced fiber pattern enhances wear resistance, reducing abrasion from brake pads while inhibiting crack propagation for longer-lasting performance.

Paired with a precisely textured friction surface, this system contributes to reliable, fade-free braking, ride after ride.

Marvel-38V-3K-Tubeless-In-Mind

TUBELESS IN MIND

All of our wheels are tubeless ready with tubeless rim tape pre-installed. Each rim features our unique tubeless R-angle design, allowing for easier mounting. To make mounting tubeless tires even easier, rims are designed with bead seat retention ridges making inflation possible with just a floor pump.

Which cassettes require the 1.85mm spacer?+

1.85mm spacers are required for Shimano 9/10-speed cassettes fitted on Shimano HG freehubs. Spacers are also required when pairing most SRAM XD MTB cassettes with SRAM XDR freehubs.

    Voilà maintenant 2 ans que je roule avec les Marvel, le rendement est très bon,elles sont légère et le corps de roue libre fait un joli son.
    Ce sont de très bonnes roues avec un bon rapport qualité prix. Mon prochain montage a disques sera avec des roues elitewheels c’est certain.

    These are well made, arrived pretty fast in EU and without issue. Rolling really well and looking great, I can’t tell any difference in braking compared to my old aluminium rims. Let’s see the long-term performance.

    Great wheels, very smooth rolling and excellent comfort. I’m really surprised by the comfort of these wheels, compared to my old wheelset (aluminum rim with carbon “fairing”) they manage to filter bumps in the road much better. The only thing I still need to evaluate better is the braking. With the pads supplied with the wheels power and modulation are good, I have yet to test it on long and steeper roads.

The grooved brake track should offer better performance in wet conditions as opposed to more traditional carbon brake tracks.
