RIM

During the rim production process, internal inflatable bladders from a special material are used to produce smoother walls, resulting in a lighter rim. These bladders are then completely removed without the use of harsh chemicals through the valve hole. Our unique manufacturing process makes is so that the rim does not have to be patched to extract the bladders like traditional manufacturers. This significantly improves the strength of the rims.

Elitewheels 29ER PRO33 Rim type

Elitewheels 29ER PRO33 Rim type

RIM TYPE

We use both genuine Toray T700 and T800 carbon fiber which is superior to generic carbon fiber used by many manufacturers. The two types of carbon fiber are used in different places to increase the wheel’s strength to weight ratio while reducing lateral and radial forces as well as increasing impact resistance.

The rims have also been specifically designed to make sealing tubeless tires using a floor pump easy.

Elitewheels 29ER PRO33 Hub

Elitewheels 29ER PRO33 hub

HUB

The Elitewheels Pro hub comes standard and features Taiwanese TPI bearings. Both the front and rear hubs are made of 7075 aluminum alloy. The lightweight freebody features a ratchet system with 36 teeth.

DT Swiss hubs are also available.

Elitewheels 29ER PRO33 Spokes

Elitewheels 29ER PRO33 Spokes

SPOKE

Sapim CX-Ray spokes come standard. We take precautions to ensure that spoke windup is minimized so wheels don’t go out of true. After the initial truing, the wheel is sideloaded. This process is repeated again. The wheels are sideloaded a total of 16 times. We see this as an essential quality control standard. As a result, our wheels are guaranteed to stay within 0.2mm of true.

The 3.2mm spoke offset minimizes the right and left spoke tension difference. This makes for a stonger and more laterally stiff wheel giving you more control.

I have had these wheels for over a year and ridden more than 2000 miles of southwest USA single track on them. They were as advertised when I received them, mounted easily and have held up with no problems. The hubs appear to be solid and again, no problems so far. It was a simple decision to buy them based on cost, wtg, and hubs compared to major manufactures here in US. I did have to wait for many weeks at that time (Jan 2023), but things may have gotten better. Elite was good at getting back to me about order status when I emailed.

Hi Pat. It is nice that you have been enjoying the wheels since they arrived early last year. We appreciate your patience in waiting. Processing and shipping times is something we are constantly trying to improve.

  2. Mario Czarnomski (verified owner)

I ordered these wheels last year based on some online reviews as well as reviews on this page. It was a bit of keep of faith, but so far I have not been disappointed. Their weight came in as advertised. See images. Wheels run true out of the box and are still try after several months of riding and racing XC as well as marathons. Nice quality. No pinging from spokes when new or now. Hub is on a bit louder side and perhaps could use a bit higher point of engagement, but it’s very solid as is. I’ve used DT Swiss XCM 1501, custom made Creat Mk III and Crest MKIV wheels. These are very much comparable in quality if not better in some aspects: optimal width for XC and phenomal weigh of under 1400g with tape and valves! Get some! That’s me in the picture racing on these wheels to the Texas state championship in XC marathon series in my age group.

These took less than 3 weeks to arrive in Canada, incredible service Elite Wheels! The wheel weights were as advertised and the quality looks amazing! I Can’t wait for spring to come to test them out! Thank you Elite Wheels!

I have been very impressed with my 29er Pro33 Elite Wheels! This is my second set of wheels and my experience has been just as good as my first a year ago. I’ll start with the ordering, it was simple and I was updated along the way. Shipping and delivery was on time and well within their estimated window. The packaging that Elite Wheels does is excellent. In fact, better than every other wheel company I’ve purchased from, including famous brands. Each wheel is protected independently and the hubs are very well cushioned so they don’t impact spokes, rims or break through the box. The quality of the rims themselves are top notch. They have a beautiful and consistent finish. The construction is precise. Tires fit perfectly and seal up easily. I have ridden them over different terrain and they are strong. For this wheelset I decided to try the Elite Wheels Pro Hubs. I have always ridden DT hubs and I have to say these hubs have fast and solid engagement. Machining and finishing on the hubs are great and the bearings are smooth. The build is also great. During my first rides I did not hear any pings or noises that would come from spokes unwinding or nipples settling. Elite Wheels does a great job stress relieving their builds and preventing spoke winding. I use these wheels on a 120F/120R “down country” bike and they have been working great!

I had these wheels for 1500km and still holds true! Very stiff yet compliant and very very light! Have raced them on both XC and Gravel races and I couldn’t ask for another set of wheels than these Pro33! Build quality and looks are great! Put on garbaruk 50T cassette and the overall wheel weighs like a roadbike wheel, so awesome!

I just received the wheelset today, so this review addresses Elite’s service, the product and shipping. I ordered the Pro 33, boost axles, microspline, centerloc, with DT Swiss 350 upgrade, and black decals. I was shocked to have received them within 2 weeks of ordering! Kudos to Elite, to their primary shipper to the US, then to USPS! I was orgainzed enough this time to weigh the wheels before swapping over rotors and cassette. I usually get ahead of myself. Front: 675grs, Rear 779gr using wife’s kitchen scale. First time using hookless wheels and I swapped existing Kenda 2.4s and they mounted and seated without any issues. I used Stan’s No-Tubes sealant. I washed, peeled and picked a lot of the old sealant off, being careful to clean the bead area, so hopefully they’ll seal and be good to go tomorrow. The wheels knocked 1.55lbs of rolling weight off my bike! Rain is forecasted for tomorrow, so hopefully Saturday I’ll get out to ride them. I hope Elite’s site allows me to post an update in a couple of months.

Hi Ray. Thank you for sharing your experience. We are glad that you are happy about the delivery speed. Our wheels have specifically been designed to make fitting tubeless wheels easier, even with just a floor pump. You are more than welcome to post an update in a few months. It will be nice to see how you find the wheels after trying them out.

I have been with my Pro 33 wheelset for about 6 months and 1000km and I can only say that I am delighted with them. The lightness, the acceleration when exiting the corners and the rigidity are incredible. I came from first brand wheels but in aluminum and the change has been brutal. Totally recommended.

I’ve had the Pro33 wheelset with the Pro hubs for over 8 months. The wheelset is astonishingly light weight without exhibiting noticable flex. The wheelset has been ridden in all kinds of terrain and has held up very well without any need for truing. The Pro hub uses the robust 36T ratchet system which is a proven simple design. The Sapim CX ray are the best out there in terms of low weight combined with strength. The wheelset comes ready with tubeless tape and valves which is a nice bonus. These wheels are by far my favorite carbon wheelset I have tried at an excellent price.

I bought myself a pair of 29er Pro 33 carbon hoops last summer and have several rides on them now. I do XC riding and am a NICA coach for my kids’ school team. I ride a Trek Top Fuel and weight about 190lbs just for reference. Here are my thoughts about the wheels:
-They are crazy light. Good luck finding anything in this price point that weighs this little. The hubs are actually really nice too. They are also much wider than many ultralight XC wheels which is great since the current trend is wider tires. I am running Maxxis Aspens in 2.4 and they pair well with the wheels.
-Build quality is great. The wheels are still very true with zero hop. I haven’t abused them much and try not to spend much time in the air. 🙂 Spokes are high quality and the stock “pro” hubs are a VERY similar design to DT Swiss and I hear you can switch out the internals if you want.
-I will probably be picking up a few more of these wheelsets for my kids since they are a great way to drop weight and gain speed! I will buy directly and not through 3rd parties. The company has been around a long time, has great customer support, and a nice warranty if things go wrong. Even the box they send the wheels in is very premium. Don’t waste your money on those overpriced wheels from the other guys!

  12. Best Decision! (verified owner)

I could not be happier with my decision to purchase the 29er pro 33 carbon wheelset for Elite Wheels. I ordered these wheels November 4th 2002 and recieved them 3 weeks later. They were packaged perfectly and everything was ready for an easy tubeless install. They shipped the correct hub spacing and freehub and with center lock as I requested. These wheels are an huge improvement to my BMC Fousrtoke. It seems as though I’m riding a different mountain bike. They are also the nicest looking wheels in my opinion. I went with the stock pro hubs, and after 6 weeks of riding I can report zero issues. Good Job Elite Wheels!
