The Race
This year’s Tour de Taiwan took place from October 2-6. It consisted of five stages starting at Taipei City Hall and finishing at Dapeng Bay. Nine continental teams as well as three national teams participated.
Two Teams
Elitewheels is proud to sponsor two of these teams. The first team is 7 Eleven Cliqq- Air21 by Road Bike Philippines. The other team is EuroCyclingTrips Pro Cycling Team.
Podium Finishes
While the racing season is winding down, the competition in the event was fierce, and the two teams both achieved podium finishes.
7 Eleven Team
The first of these podium finishes happened on the first day. The 7 Eleven rider Marcello Felipe managed to edge out the competition during a sprint. At an average speed for the stage of over 47kmp, he managed to achieve a third place finish in one of Asia’s most well-known races. Marcello is a strong sprinter and was one of the favorites. This week, he will participate in Le Tour de Langkawi.
EuroCyclingTrips Team
The second of these podium finishes was accomplished by EuroCyclingTips’ rider,
Stéfan Bennett. He finished just seconds behind the leader on this long and mountainous stage from HSR Hsinchu station to Shigang. This earned him 5 UCI points.
