Portugal is a nation with a strong cycling history and culture. The country hosts the longest stage race in pro racing after the three grand tours, the Tour of Portugal, which had its 83rd edition last year.
In Portugal, there are 9 UCI Continental teams and 7 Club teams. Historically, these teams have primarily competed within Portugal, but there is a cycling team who is looking to challenge that and participate on the world stage. Sabgal – Anicolor is a pro cycling team that has its roots in the year 2000. It has developed and grown and is now one of the top UCI Continental teams.
In 2024, the new title sponsor Sabgal has seen promise in the team and has decided to support them on their way to competing in bigger races. The team has shown significant promise due to its successful race performance in Portugal, winning the Volta a Portugal in 2022. In addition, as of 2023 they are ranked the #1 team in the nation.
This year, not only will they have 68 race days in Portugal, but they will also compete in Europe, Asia, and South America. Some of the most notable races are the 1.Pro Gran Premio Miguel Indurain, the 2.Pro Tour of Slovenia, the 2.Pro Tour of Denmark, and the 2.Pro Tour of Britain among many others.
Their riders include individuals like 2022 Portuguese national TT champion, Rafael Reis, winner of the 2022 Tour of Portugal, Mauricio Moreira, and multiple former WorldTeam riders including Artem Nych, Jimmy Whelan, Andre Carvalho and more. For 2024, Sabgal – Anicolor is adding top Danish rider Mathias Bregnhøj who achieved 8th overall in last year’s Tour of Denmark, 1st in Olympia’s Tour and 1st in the Circuit des Ardennes.

This year, the riders will be racing on our Drive series disc brake road wheels as well as the Velo TT Disc Brake Bundles. For racing, they have chosen the Drive 40D and the Drive 50D. Both Drive wheelsets feature replaceable carbon spokes, ceramic bearings, and our own design and manufactured UNI carbon fiber. The 40D is the ultimate climbing wheelset, weighing only 1260 grams for the pair. The 50D wheelset is a formidable all-rounder that is fast on the flats and hills.
All of our wheels have not only undergone extensive testing in our test laboratory, they have also been raced by our multiple UCI Continental pro cycling teams. Riders from teams like HRE Mazowsze Serce Polski, China Glory Continental Cycling Team as well as Cycling Team Kranj and 7 Eleven Cliqq – Air21 by Road Bike Philippines have all raced our wheels in ProTour races, WorldTour races, and the World Championships, getting multiple first place and overall GC finishes. Drive wheels are all UCI approved and can be used in pro competition.
