On the 10th of March, the vibrant town of Iten in the Rift Valley will set the stage for the challenging Rift Valley Gravel Race, known as the “home of champions.” This race, forming part of the Safari Gravel Race series, offers a course that stands out as the most demanding among its counterparts.

Participants will embark on a journey across the picturesque Kerio Valley, navigating both high-speed descents and technical climbs on some of Kenya’s finest gravel roads. The route promises long, arduous ascents, challenging riders to their limits in the thin air of high altitudes. Beyond the test of endurance, cyclists will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the valley, creating an indelible memory of this formidable event in the series.

Rules & Regulations: Upholding Fair Play and Safety

Participation & Eligibility:

All participants must register and pay the requisite fee, agreeing to adhere to series rules.
Participants under 18 require parental consent.
Accurate birthdate entry is crucial, with false information leading to disqualification.
Conduct & Sportsmanship:

Sportsmanship and respectful behavior are mandatory.
Discrimination based on gender, race, sexual orientation, or religion is strictly prohibited.
Profane or abusive language is not tolerated.
Cheating or falsifying information results in a lifetime ban.
Safety & Fair Play:

Helmets approved for cycling are mandatory.
Adherence to traffic laws and avoidance of dangerous behaviors is obligatory.
Any attempt at shortcuts or gaining unfair advantages leads to disqualification.
Unauthorized assistance, like drafting behind support vehicles, is prohibited.
Rule Violations & Penalties:

The Race Director holds final authority on violations.
Dangerous riding or unsportsmanlike conduct results in penalties or disqualification.
Discrimination offenses lead to immediate disqualification.
Providing inaccurate age information leads to disqualification.
Anti-Doping:

Use of performance-enhancing substances is strictly prohibited.
Random drug testing applies per WADA Code, with the first offense leading to a 2-year ban.
Appeals & Disputes:

Documented procedures for lodging appeals must be followed.
Teams appoint representatives for formal appeals.
Code of Conduct:

All participants must read and sign the code of conduct, emphasizing ethical behavior.

Teams consist of 7 riders of mixed gender, deciding their gender ratio based on racing strategy.
Each team has a Director Sportif, responsible for team representation during disputes.
Riders must identify their teams during registration.
Clubs can have multiple teams at an event.
