Blue Sky Hill Climb

The Blue Sky Hill Climb 2024, formerly known as the Mt. Evans Hill Climb, is set to take place on July 20th, 2024. This iconic race, one of the most challenging in North America, spans 27.4 miles with a vertical gain of 6,700 feet, culminating at the summit of Mt. Blue Sky, the highest paved road in the U.S., at an elevation of 14,130 feet.
The event offers two main participation categories: the Citizens Challenge and the USA Cycling Race. The Citizens Challenge is designed for amateur cyclists looking to test their limits without the need for a racing license, while the USA Cycling Race is a competitive event requiring a USAC license, featuring podium finishes and eligibility for the Colorado State Hill Climb Championships.
Participants can expect a well-organized event with hydration stations, a bag drop for descent gear, and on-course support to ensure safety and convenience. Due to the remote and high-altitude nature of the climb, spectator access is restricted, but a celebratory finish party with food and drinks will be held in Idaho Springs.
