BRM 200 Bergen op Zoom: Luctor et Emergo 2024 will challenge riders to conquer the wind-swept, flat landscapes of Zeeland, where the Dutch motto “Luctor et Emergo” – “I struggle and emerge” – truly comes to life. Starting at Hotel Brasserie Smits in Wemeldinge, the 200 km route takes cyclists through the dikes, canals, and open fields of Zuid-Beveland, offering little shelter from the elements. Riders will experience Zeeland’s natural beauty as they navigate along the sea dikes and inland bird sanctuaries, passing through picturesque villages such as Middelburg, Renesse, and Brouwershaven. With various free checkpoints along the way, including iconic spots like the Oosterscheldekering and the Grevelingendam, participants will capture selfies or stamp their cards to mark their progress. The ride concludes with a scenic dike route through Yerseke, where cyclists can glimpse the region’s famous mussel and oyster processing hubs before rolling to the finish.
