The Zurich – ANDERMATT event is a challenging endurance race that spans 200 km with a total elevation gain of 4,500 meters. The event is held annually and is designed for riders to tackle the Swiss landscape’s rugged terrain, with beautiful views along Lake Zurich, Glarnerland, and Klausen Pass, culminating in Andermatt. Riders can participate in four categories: Singles, Relays, Couples, and Happy Threesome. Each category has specific rules regarding support, race tactics, and how the riders are allowed to interact. Event Background: Location: The race starts at Saalsporthalle, Zurich, and finishes at Piazza Gottardo, Andermatt. Distance: 200 km with 4,500 meters of elevation gain. Route: The course leads through hilly terrain, passing Lake Zurich and entering Glarnerland, before climbing the Klausen Pass and finishing in Andermatt. The route is challenging and offers scenic views but also difficult climbs. Experience: The race offers a tough physical challenge for both individuals and teams. Riders need to manage their energy over long distances, ride through potentially difficult weather, and navigate steep climbs. Support teams play a crucial role, especially for relay categories, providing timely assistance at the checkpoints. Post-Race: Participants receive a goodie bag, finisher medal, and finisher meal. There’s also a finisher beer waiting at the finish line. Race Services include baggage transport, transport for personal items, and hotel packages in Andermatt.
