Chautauqua Gran Fondo 2024

Aug 17, 2024 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Chautauqua Gran Fondo 2024

Chautauqua Gran Fondo will be held on 17 Aug 2024 in Mayville, United States with five routes as follows:

20 MILE RIDE
A great option for casual riders and families who would like to experience the sights around Chautauqua Lake. Our social riders are encouraged to enjoy refreshments and our many selfie-stops along the way.

40 MILE RIDE
Challenge yourself or cycle with friends on our 40+ mile loop around Chautauqua Lake. Along this moderately hilly course, fitness riders will breeze by many turn-of-the-century homes and villages along NY State Routes 394 and 430. Additionally, cyclists will travel the Greater Jamestown Riverwalk path along the Chadakoin River at the south end of the Lake.

60 MILE RIDE
Tons of great scenery on this metric century ride! Cyclists who choose the 60 mile route will head out to Lake Erie on a tour through historic Westfield and to the Barcelona Lighthouse. Fully stocked rest stops along the way will give you the power to head back and complete the loop around Chautauqua Lake. Plenty of great views, rest stops, and photo ops along the way.

100 MILE RIDE
A more challenging Century route is available and is recommended for experienced riders. Enjoy more of the fantastic sights of the region as you descend into Westfield and then pass vineyard after vineyard between Ripley and Fredonia. The Century route takes you along the shores of Lake Erie as you travel the New York State Bike Route. This section of the 100 mile ride is mostly flat or has small rolling hills before climbing back 700+ feet in elevation to Chautauqua Lake. Here riders will continue along the same route as 40 and 60 mile riders to circle Chautauqua Lake and return to the start in Mayville.

TRAIL RIDE
We also offer a Trail/Gravel ride for those that prefer to get in touch with nature and appreciate a ride free of traffic while still enjoying the unique landscape of the area. The Trail ride begins on the paved trail along the shores of Chautauqua Lake. This ride takes you past farmland, woodlands, and meadows where surfaces range from paved, to gravel and stone, to grass and dirt. There are short segments where riders cross paved roads or follow paved roads for a short distance but this route is mostly car-free and flat, with a gradual overall grade.
