Event Background
Dirty Detour is an adventure-inspired gravel cycling event designed to bring together outdoor enthusiasts for an unforgettable weekend. Combining cycling, family fun, and a celebration of the beautiful rural surroundings of Monkerai Valley, the event provides something for everyone—whether it’s challenging gravel rides, scenic views, or relaxation by the open fire. The event is set in the foothills of the World Heritage Barrington Tops and features a mix of cycling, outdoor activities, and a vibrant post-ride atmosphere with music, food, and beverages.

Routes
20KM Route: A moderate ride suitable for all fitness levels, circling the Monkerai Valley with a few climbs, river crossings, and stunning views of Barrington Tops. Ride Start Time: 11:45 AM.
Distance: 22km
Elevation: 360 meters
50KM Route: For riders with moderate fitness and experience, featuring challenging forestry trails and creek crossings. Ride Start Time: 10:45 AM.
Distance: 50km
Elevation: 970 meters
90KM Route: A demanding route for experienced riders, including tough climbs and exhilarating descents. Riders must meet a time cut to finish before dark. Ride Start Time: 8:45 AM.
Distance: 90km
Elevation: 1600 meters
Registration Details
Ticket Types:
AusCycling Members: Select the ‘AusCycling Member’ ticket at checkout, with proof of membership.
Non-Members: Select the ‘Non-AusCycling Member’ ticket, which includes insurance.
Insurance: Compulsory for all riders. Includes Third Party Liability and Personal Accident coverage.

Entry Fee
Non-refundable: Tickets are non-refundable but can be transferred to future events.
Ride Transfers: Available if you can’t attend, subject to event approval.
Accommodation
Basecamp: Riverwood Downs, a 750-acre property on the Upper Karuah River, offers camping and cabin accommodations.
Book Bunkhouse accommodation with your event ticket.

Age Requirements
20km Course: Riders aged 10-14 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
50km Course: Riders aged 12-16 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
90km Course: Riders aged 16 and older.
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers can enjoy a free event tee, water, and food supplies while helping make the event a success.
Rules and Safety
Bike Requirements: Gravel, mountain, or e-MTBs with 40+mm tires. Road bikes are not suitable.
Safety Gear: Australian Standards-approved helmet, spare kit, phone, multi-tool, sun protection, and fluids are required.
Public Roads: The event takes place on public roads, and NSW road rules apply. Some sections of the course cross private property, and participants must respect landowners.
COVID-19 Policy
If the event is canceled due to COVID-19 or other unforeseen reasons, it will be rescheduled, and registration fees will be moved to the new date or refunded if the event is not rescheduled.
