The GFNY Puerto Rico offers an exciting cycling experience in the “Pearl of the South,” Ponce. This vibrant city, Puerto Rico’s second-largest, boasts a rich 500-year history and is renowned for its neoclassical architecture, colonial charm, and dynamic cultural scene. Ponce is home to the historic Ponce Cathedral, the iconic Parque de Bombas, and the Ponce Museum of Art, which features the Caribbean’s largest art collection.
Nestled on the southern coast, Ponce also provides access to natural wonders like Caja de Muertos island and scenic mountain ranges, making it a perfect blend of cultural heritage and outdoor adventure.
Course Overview:
The GFNY Puerto Rico race starts and finishes at the Complejo Ferial de Puerto Rico, the city’s premier exhibition center. During race week, participants can enjoy pre-race expos, post-race meals, and awards at this central location.

Route: Starting from the Complejo Ferial, riders will traverse the Ponce Bypass, passing through major city landmarks before embarking on a challenging 21 km Hors Catégorie climb with 889 m of elevation gain. The climb leads into the Cordillera Central, offering beautiful, tropical scenery and a mix of gradual and steep inclines. The long route continues to Utuado, known for its colonial architecture and coffee trade history, before returning to Ponce via a scenic and challenging route with multiple aid stations.
Medium Course:

Route: This route also begins and ends at the Complejo Ferial. It includes the scenic climb and passes through Adjuntas but does not extend to Utuado. Riders will enjoy a mix of tropical roads and beautiful views before returning to Ponce.

Long Course Competition: Eligible for category rankings and podium awards. Top 10% of finishers in each age group qualify for the GFNY World event Qualifier Corral.
Medium Course: Non-competitive with times listed alphabetically.
