Event Overview
The Granfondo di Casteggio is a celebrated cycling event that pays tribute to the rolling hills of the Oltrepò Pavese region. Organized by ASD Sant’Angelo Edilferramenta under the leadership of President Vittorio Ferrante, the event offers cyclists a well-structured and easily accessible starting point at the Centro Sportivo di Casteggio.
Course Details
Participants can look forward to a single, meticulously designed route intended to challenge and delight even the most demanding riders:
- Distance: Approximately 90 km
- Elevation Gain:1,750 meters
The course begins with an ascent towards Montalto Pavese, featuring a 10-kilometer climb interspersed with gentle slopes. Riders will traverse the scenic Vallescuropasso and Valle Versa, passing through charming locales such as Bosco della Chiesa, Cerchiara, and Volpara. The route includes challenging climbs and exhilarating descents, with a notable rest stop at Bivio Carmine. The final stretch leads cyclists back to Casteggio, culminating in a slight uphill finish.
Participation and Registration
The Granfondo di Casteggio is open to cyclists of all genders, aged 17 to 79, who hold memberships with recognized sports promotion entities, the Italian Cycling Federation (F.C.I.), or their respective foreign federations. Non-affiliated riders can obtain a daily membership by presenting a valid medical certificate for competitive cycling. ACSI sanctions the event, ensuring all participants have a well-organized and safe experience.
