Granguanche Road 2025

The GranGuanche Audax is a modern endurance cycling event inspired by the audacious spirit of late 1800s cyclists, who would ride long distances within strict time limits. In the 2025 edition, cyclists aim to match the ferry schedules between the Canary Islands, a time limit that tests their endurance and bravery (Audax, Latin for brave). The event adheres to the classic rules of unsupported ultra-cycling, but in a nod to the Audax spirit, participants are allowed to draft and ride in groups, fostering camaraderie.The Guanches, the original inhabitants of the Canary Islands, left behind a cultural legacy that blends with the region’s European influence following the Spanish conquest. This unique history is reflected in the islands’ aboriginal caves, historic cities, and traditional villages, offering a rich backdrop to the cycling adventure.
