Heatstroke Hundred 2024

The 2024 Heatstroke Hundred is set to challenge cyclists on Sunday, September 1st, in the scorching heat of a Nebraska summer. Known for its hot and humid conditions, this event dares participants to pedal through the intense sun, navigating the scenic highways and byways of the Ashland-Louisville area. The ride kicks off and concludes at the Strategic Air Command and Aerospace Museum on Hwy 66, just off I-80.
The road routes for this year’s Heatstroke Hundred remain consistent with previous years, featuring three loops (24, 35, and 38 miles) that riders can tackle in any order. Each loop starts and ends at the museum, with the scenic Lied Platte River Bridge incorporated into two of the three loops. Registration begins at 7:00 am, and the ride starts at 7:30 am, with the course closing at 5:30 pm to allow volunteers a well-deserved break.
Three SAG stops along the routes and at the SAC Museum will provide water and snacks, with additional roving SAG support available. Notably, the trail connecting the Lied Bridge to Hwy 31 has been freshly reconstructed to repair flood damage, offering a smooth ride over its limestone surface.
For those seeking a different challenge, the Heatstroke Hundred also features a 54-mile gravel route. This course includes gravel roads, sections of the MoPac Trail, the Lied Bridge, and short highway stretches, providing an up-close experience with Nebraska’s rural landscape.
Participants can access detailed route maps and download GPX files for their GPS devices from the Ride with GPS website, ensuring they stay on track throughout this exhilarating event.
