The Park 2 Park 2024 is an epic cycling challenge that takes riders on a breathtaking journey from Denver’s City Park to Winter Park Resort. This single-day Gran Fondo features a 100-mile route with three Category 1 climbs and a total vertical gain of 11,164 feet.
Starting at the iconic City Park in Denver, riders will pedal through the streets of Central and Downtown Denver, passing landmarks like Coors Stadium and historic buildings. The route then takes cyclists through Edgewater, Wheat Ridge, and Lakewood before reaching the charming town of Golden, home to the famous Coors Brewery.
The first climb of the day is Lookout Mountain, offering stunning views and a challenging ascent of about 4.5 miles with steep grades and tight curves. After a moderate descent, riders will continue towards Squaw Pass, passing through Evergreen and Bergen Park. The climb to Squaw Pass features almost 9 miles of consistent, moderate grades with some steep, winding sections.
From Squaw Pass, riders will descend to Idaho Springs and then head towards Berthoud Pass. The climb up Berthoud Pass begins outside Empire and includes tight switchbacks and a gradual ascent towards the Continental Divide. The route finishes with a fast descent into Winter Park, where riders can enjoy a well-deserved celebration and awards ceremony.
The Park 2 Park 2024 is not just a ride; it’s a true test of endurance and determination, offering riders the opportunity to conquer some of Colorado’s toughest mountains and earn a coveted custom trophy based on their finishing time.
