The Westerley Winter Warmer is a hallmark of endurance cycling in the Chilterns. Over the years, it has built a reputation as an excellent opportunity for riders to build base miles and test their winter fitness. Event Overview
Participants can choose from three routes of varying lengths, each showcasing the beauty of the Chilterns’ quiet lanes, rolling hills, and wintery landscapes:
105km route: Nearly 1200m of climbing, including challenging climbs like Frith Hill and Bledlow Ridge.
60km route: A medium-distance option with 600m of ascent, perfect for those seeking a moderate challenge.
44km route: A shorter course with 470m of climbing, ideal for beginners or riders easing into the season.
All routes emphasize rider reliability, with target speeds between 12.5mph and 18mph, ensuring inclusivity without compromising on the challenge.
Event Details for 2025
The HQ is at Chalfont St Giles Scout Hut in Chalfont Saint Giles, providing an accessible start and finish point with ample amenities, including tea, coffee, and food included in the entry fee. The ride begins at 8:30 am, with staggered start times to ensure safety. Entry fees are:
£10 for 105km,
£9 for 60km,
£8 for 44km,
Juniors (under 18, accompanied by an adult) ride free.
Riders should take note of potential hazards, including narrow lanes, potholes, and temporary traffic lights.
