| Granfondo Internazionale Laigueglia 2025: The Opening Classic Event Background The Granfondo Internazionale Laigueglia returns in 2025 for its 27th edition, on February 23, marking the start of the cycling season. Held on the stunning Riviera delle Palme, it is one of the most loved and iconic races in the region. Laigueglia, with its scenic coastline and picturesque inland roads, serves as the perfect backdrop for this competitive cycling event. Known for its mild February temperatures, it offers an early taste of spring for cyclists. This event, often considered the first of the season, is a popular starting point for cyclists aiming to measure their form against the clock. Safety is a priority, with the entire route closed to traffic and an efficient race organization overseeing every detail. The Paravenna climb, a key challenge of the event, is famously known as the “Climb of Champions”. Event Schedule Saturday, February 22, 2025: o09:00 – Opening of the Expo Area. o10:00 – Distribution of race packs and verification of membership cards. o18:00 – Welcome aperitif for participants. Sunday, February 23, 2025: o08:00 – Opening of the grids. o09:00 – Granfondo Laigueglia race starts. o14:30 – Awards ceremony at the Palazzetto dello Sport. The race start will be from Corso Badarò, with a cutoff time of 16:00 for the event. Route and Experience The route is designed to challenge both experienced riders and newcomers alike. There are three key refreshment points along the 100km course: Onzo (km 45) Ligo (km 67) Testico (km 100 – water stop) The event also features the Gravel Experience – Memorial Bruno Zanoni, a non-competitive ride of about 30 km for those wishing to explore the scenic beauty of the inland areas on Gravel bikes, MTBs, or E-bikes. For participants using E-bikes, there will be specific rules in place, and no competitive rankings will be applied. These riders will receive a colored bib for identification. Registration Details Registration Opens: November 1, 2024 Registration Closes: February 19, 2025 (Online) oFees: €50 (1 Nov – 31 Jan) €55 (1 Feb – 19 Feb) €60 (On-site registration) Discounted Entry: Disabled participants: €35 (1 Nov – 31 Jan) / €40 (On-site) The registration includes the race pack, bib, mechanical and medical assistance, refreshments along the route, and a pasta party. For Gravel Experience participants, a separate registration process applies. Regulations Medical Certificate Requirement: A valid medical certificate (according to model E) for competitive cycling is mandatory. Categories: The event features categories for both men and women, including: oDisabled, Junior, Senior, Veteran, Gentleman, and Super Gentleman categories. Daily Membership: For non-members, a €10 fee applies for a daily membership that includes insurance coverage. Awards: Top three overall (M/F), top five per category, and the largest teams will be honored. How to Get There By Car: From Albenga motorway exit, follow the SS1 Via Aurelia to Laigueglia (14.5 km).
