Event Overview

La Ruta 2026 (La Ruta de los Conquistadores) is one of the most legendary mountain bike stage races in the world, taking riders across Costa Rica from the Pacific Coast to the Caribbean Coast. The event returns on October 29–31, 2026, challenging riders with three demanding stages through diverse terrain including gravel roads, technical trails, volcanic landscapes, dense rainforest, river crossings and high mountain climbs.

Founded in 1993 by MTB Hall of Fame member Román Urbina, La Ruta has built more than three decades of history as an iconic endurance mountain bike challenge. The race is designed as a true coast-to-coast expedition rather than a traditional loop course, testing riders’ endurance, preparation and mental strength.

The 2026 edition features three stages:

• Stage 1: Jacó → San José
• Stage 2: San José → Turrialba
• Stage 3: Turrialba → Limón → Turrialba
