For this race, CGC has six riders competing, namely Etiene Van Empel, Matteo Malucelli, Xianjing Lyu, Nazaerbieke Bieken, Reinier Honig, and Lucas De Rossi. Last month, Chinese riders Nazaerbieke Bieken and Xianjing Lyu took place in the UCI World Mountain Bike Championships. This race offers more opportunity to the riders, as there are only a few ProTeams racing and no WorldTeams. There are however, several of the best continental teams in the competition. As a result, Lyu stated “We expect to have solid results in the stages here. We strive for good final rankings, too. This race can be a good one to race our confidence.”

The race’s prologue took place yesterday. Lucas De Rossi of France achieved the fastest speed for the team 47.848kph over the short course, just eight seconds behind the leader. The team has many opportunities to excel over the next several days, including Matteo Malucelli, who may have great results in the sprint finishes during the race.
